McCall MacBain Scholarship (Canada)
The McCall MacBain Scholarship at McGill University (Montreal, Canada) is a fully funded master’s scholarship open to students from around the world, including Nigeria. It is open to all disciplines (humanities, sciences, engineering, arts, etc.). Winners receive a comprehensive funding package: tuition and fees for the entire graduate program, a generous monthly stipend (C$2,300 during terms), and additional support (such as relocation grants and summer research funding). Beyond financial support, scholars join an interdisciplinary leadership community with mentors, coaching, and special seminars.
Eligibility Criteria for the McCall MacBain Scholarship
Undergraduate Degree: Applicants must hold (or be on track to receive) a first bachelor’s degree. For the upcoming 2026 cohort, applicants are typically those graduating by August 2026 or who earned their bachelor’s in the last 5 years.
Age and Recency: Generally, candidates should be recent graduates (usually within 5 years of finishing undergrad). If your degree was earned more than 5 years ago, applicants are often limited to those who were 30 or younger by early 2025.
Leadership & Service: While not a strict “qualification,” successful applicants usually demonstrate strong leadership potential, community service, and an entrepreneurial mindset. The program seeks scholars who will make a positive impact.

After initial screening, selected candidates are invited to regional interviews (international candidates interview online). More than 250 candidates are invited, narrowing to about 85 finalists. Final interviews take place in Montreal for top candidates. (McGill covers travel costs for finalists.)
All finalists who advance must submit a separate application to their chosen McGill graduate program by McGill’s deadlines (usually December). Final scholarship offers are made only to those admitted to McGill.
Successful McCall MacBain Scholars will begin their studies in September 2026. Winners are fully funded as described above; if you receive an alternate “finalist award,” that also provides substantial financial support.
By following this process and meeting the criteria, eligible Nigerian students can secure a McCall MacBain Scholarship to study in Canada. Remember to review the McCall MacBain website and McGill’s pages for any updates and detailed instructions when applying.
